NordMende at Web Summit

NordMende is delighted to be the provider of Digital Wayfinding at the 2015 Web Summit at the RDS Dublin.

Pixel Soup, a reseller of NordMende Digital Signage created a grid of 40 ceiling mounted digital signs throughout the Simmonscourt Pavillion and the RDS Main Hall. Powered by Android, each screen has a specific task of directing patrons to any given stage. A “Now / Next” RSS feed was implemented to show what speaker is at what stage and when.
The responsive nature of the signage network allows Pixel Soup to react to unexpected changes in the event line up; If a speaker doesn’t turn up, or the schedule needs to change, the signs can be updated in seconds to provide relevant information.
The scheduling feature allows the Pixel Soup team to plan the day well in advance, and use the content management system to react to unexpected developments in a timely manner.
At the end of each day of the event, all the screens will change to a green “EXIT” content design, pointing everyone toward their nearest exit. The same method can be deployed in case of emergency.

Not only will NordMende be powering the wayfinding at this year’s Web Summit event but also, Collision New Orleans, Rise Hong Kong and Surge Bengalaru in 2016.

If you've ever wondered how logos get made, who makes them, and where the people making them draw their inspiration—here's a great little glimpse into that world. Aaron Draplin, a freelance designer in Portland, Ore., accepted a logo design challenge from Lynda.com to create a mark for slab concrete company and made this short tutorial. Draplin, a bearded, burly 40-year-old veteran design dude with a canon of really diverse work, makes it look easy. But his ease and demeanor are the result of years of experience.
